A hunter is someone who hunts animals to give them food for themselves and their families. On the other hand, a poacher is someone who hunts animals to use for profitable purposes. However, these two terms are often used interchangeably by many people who are not familiar with the definition of each one. When I first began hunting in 2013, I had no idea that hunters were actually protected because of what they do for their family members and communities. What I did know was that if you didn't hunt yourself or provide meat to your family then you were committing poaching. When I was younger, my family raised cattle and I knew that hunters poached since the meat they would take to their families came from our ranch. It wasn't until I was older that I figured out that there was another side to the story. While hunting in the woods of Pennsylvania, people like me who hunt game animals like deer or bear frequently are often caught off guard when we come across someone who is quite different to us. These people are conservationists. The biggest difference between these two sides is how they both feel about the future of hunting in this country. The conservationists have been fighting to protect the right of hunters to hunt and have been seeing quite a decline in the number of deer and other game animals that we hunt. The people who oppose hunting, don't support it since they feel like there is no need for deer and other hunted animals. The main reasons we hunt are to provide food for ourselves and our families. Hunting gives us a sense of pride when we come across these animals that we were able to take down on our own without using any weapons or equipment that isn't needed when hunting such as guns or traps. I also hunt because it's an activity that helps me develop my skills for future hunts while also encouraging teamwork with my family and friends. Hunting helps to maintain the species of animals in the woods. I know that hunting is very important to me because it helps me control the population of animals that are killed every year by poachers. I also know that it's very important for people who don't hunt to know why we hunt and how it benefits us all. The main reasons hunters hunt are for food, recreation, and sport. My family is no different from most other families whose main reason for hunting is food. Hunting is one of the most efficient ways of providing your family with food. I hunt to provide food for my family. I am glad that I am able to provide my family with meat that they can consume. The meat that comes from animals that are hunted are very nutritious and healthy, unlike the meat from animals which are raised in cages on farms. There are also many other benefits of hunting for recreation and sport. Hunting has been a part of our culture since the beginning of time because it gives people a sense of pride when they get to know how to properly use their skills while enjoying nature".
